When he starts catching the ball with his hands and not against his body/cradle style, then I will stop giving him ****.

That catch in the end zone was made with his hands. :icon_shrug:

Word. Look at how his fingers are intertwined. Impossible to catch a ball with your hands like that.

    bold part....

He is holding his hands like a basket, like his hands were a net. He is not "Catching the ball with his hands"
And he is not looking the ball in.....

There was no article. I thought it was hilarious to see him looking at the camera like that. And I do count this as catching with the hands, how else could he have caught this?

I don't care if he catches them wedging the football in his facemask as long as he catches touchdown passes like yesterday

He's catching the ball exactly as you are coached to catch an over the shoulder catch, even the way his hands are overlapped is textbook. As far as not looking the ball in, he looked it in and then looked down to see where the end line was to ensure he came down in bounds.

VJ made what was probably the biggest play of the day. Give the guy a freaking break.

    It is all about technique.

He catches the ball basket style using his arms, body and in this case facemask to TRAP the ball against his body.

He never REACHES for the ball, but waits for it to hit him. Watch how Chambers goes after the ball with his HANDS.

He's definitely benefiting from not having to be a number one wide out. Chambers is helping the offense out a lot.

How much you reach for the ball depends on the arc of the ball. When a ball drops from the sky like the TD catch, you shouldn't slow down and extend your arms. You should maintain your stride and catch it with your hands exactly like VJ did.

If this were an underthrown ball that VJ didn't jump for, I'd agree with you, but you can't "snatch" balls that are thrown over your shoulder. You can only put out your hands and look the ball in. VJ did that. He caught the pass. Touchdown. He also had a great block on LT's first TD run.

some of you people are classic  VJ catches a 38 yd (or something like that) TD and you guys are criticizing him for not catching it with his hands (apparently he caught it with his chest or something, never mind it was over the shoulder :icon_huh:)

I can hear you now, when he caught it you probably where screaming to the TV "It shouldn't count because he didn't exhibit perfect form on the catch! FU VJ!"

I don't care how he catches it, so long as it gets caught. My beef with him has been that he doesn't seem to use his size much. He is a 6'5" dude with some serious bulk, yet he seems to want to wait for the ball to get to him instead of going up and taking it away from smaller defenders. Look at Gates, that guy goes and gets the ball in a crowd. V.J. often gets outmuscled by smaller guys.

Randy Moss is a freak of nature. He's also not the most technically sounds receiver in the league.

Dude I'd love to see you at Charger's park next year showing them how it's done. HAHAHAHAHA

You probably wouldn't even be allowed to wash their jocks man.

Quit trying to tell a proffessional wideout how to catch when he's accomplished a hell of a lot more in his football carreer than you.

I'm guessing you probably played Juco tops.

I know. What the phuck? This is the physically dominating Chargers team that everybody's been waiting to see. We are on a roll. Fans should be excited. Instead, they are nitpicking.

He made a catch just like that in three DB crowd a couple of weeks ago. Snatched it out the the air with those three hanging on him like bling bling. VJ is improving with each game, and his blocking is mui macho.

it really is stupid thought that people can't just enjoy a win.

The coaching staff and players are coming together

LT and the line are clicking again

The linebackers are being used in a way that takes advantage of their abilities

We are witnessing the birth of another star in Cromartie

And yet someone finds an issue with Jackson's (who caught a game changing TD) catching technique.

I really hope that the players do NOT read these posts. I can see it now. We're down by 4 with 15 seconds left against the patriots (in the playoffs). Ball on the 30 and Philip throws a perfect strike on the numbers to JV. only he facking drops it because he took some Pop Warner reject's advice who said that every ball has to be caught with the hands.

    Damn those body catching receivers.
