Can some stat person help me confirm if NE's worst game this year was against the Jets, and what the weather/ precipitation (if any) was? If it comes down to running the ball, we have an edge...

That said... can somone post the differences between what is being forcasted and what was on NE's worst performance this year?

    Many thanks...

It was raining in that game and the Pats receivers had trouble hanging on to the ball. It slowed down their high powered passing game.

Unfortunately, the weather forecast for Sunday's game is cold but clear. 18 degrees forecast. Not sure what the wind will be like but that could be a big factor if it is windy. That would favor the running game.:bolt:

yahoo weather says 15 degrees and sunny for next Sunday right now.

But extended forcasts aren't always that accurate.

The Jet game did have some mixed precipitation, but the thing that slowed the passing game down more than the precipitation was the wind, not sure what the wind forecast is for Sunday, and this early it probably isn't accurate anyway.

Now it says partly cloudy, high of 16, low of 8 for Sunday

Saturday's forcast for Foxboro right now says windy with a high of 30

That game had win gust up to 30 mph, i think more than anything that contributed to the lack of offense

Maroney had 104 yards on 26 carries in that game, 4.0 ypc. The way he's been going lately, if the Pats need to run the ball, I'm confident they'll have success.

Good luck with that plan .. there is a reason why the Colts abandoned the run so early.

It's was too early to put any real faith in weather forecasts for this coming weekend. If temps are as low as the most extreme forcast, the cold will affect the passing game because temperatures as low as forecast change the ball. Cold air is also denser air, the colder the denser, especially if the humidity is low. There is a standard warning for pilots who take of and land in air that is "high, hot and humid", so the effect is not inconsequential. Flying on a cool night has a completely different feel to it.

I spent one year in Glasgow, Montana....Air Force 1966-67. Coldest friggin' place I've ever been. I can't imagine anyone wanting to live there. It was winter from September until the end of May.

Did anyone hear Chuck Muncie today on ESPN radio talk about the Chargers-Bengals playoff game in Cincinatti the year the game time temp was minus 15 degrees with a chill factor? I remember watching that game on TV...it was brutal. Muncie said Fouts frost bit his fingers and toes, and it was damned near impossible to throw a ball. Receivers fingers wouldn't work quickly enough, and ball carriers just squeezed the ball and hoped no one hit it.

The temp in Foxboro is predicted to be 13-16 at game time....but it is predicted to be 8 degrees at game time in Lambeau. Eli and Brett both may have to play a ground game.

Didn't hear it, but I remember it well. Big bummer day for me.

That was brutal and to think they had to go to -freakingcold after a warm humid, OT sweatfest in MIA the week before. I wonder how spent the team was even a week later.

Chowder-head eating cranberry crusted poop, is what a Patriot fan is... nice name, tudburgler. Maroney is overrated- perfect team for him, where they don't need him. Anywhere else, he'd wreak.

While not a huge factor, I do believe the weather might actually help the Pats. True, the wind might impact the passing game, however the Pats often practice outside and thus the conditions shouldn't be as big of an adjustment as for the Chargers.

I think the weather is going to be a factor in slowing down both sides, the weather will put the focus on the running game...

All in all you pats fans don't have to admit it but we definitely have the edge in the running game with LT, Turner, and Sproles. We have enough diversity in our running game to do it all game long and still keep it you guessing.

If the weather is really bad it will make deep passes much more difficult and allow our D to focus on taking away all the short stuff. By far the frozen tears of the Pats fans will be the best part of the cold crappy weather.

I'd agree the Chargers have a big advantage in the running game. The cold doesn't really impact the passing game that much. It's more of a wind issue.

I tend to disagree. If the weather makes this a running type game the Chargers have the advantage. If the field is icy, then LT may have trouble with his cut style running, but we can always go to Turner who is more of a straight forward runner with power. I like the Bolts chances if the weather keeps the game on the ground. The only minus is that Brady is good with the quick short dump passes, which could still be effective in the cold weather.

Only a 10% chance of percipitation. The field should be fine. Just cold. My only concern is the wind. Other than strong winds, the cold doesn't change the Pats passing game. But again, the Pats practice a lot outside and have even practiced in the snow. LT should be LT, assuming he's good to go. Even if he's not, you guys are so deep you still should be fine.
