If the Miami Dolphins defeat the Buffalo Bills early Sunday morning, the San Diego Chargers will be eliminated from playoff contention before their own game kicks off.

If it happens, would you like to see P. Rivers, A. Gates, R. Matthews and all other valuable players playing a meaningless game?

The games aren't meaningless when the season's final standings reflect how good the team and individual players are. These coaches and players have been groomed to thrive in a culture of competitiveness. To lay down the last two games just because they've been eliminated, instead of going balls to the walls to beat two division rivals to end the season on a high note, would not be in the team's best interests despite that the wins would cause them to pick later in the draft. That's my take.

It's not meaningless for Mike McCoy. We want the players thinking this team is on the brink of competing for a title next year, especially our veterans, losing to the Raiders and Chiefs would be a huge blow to that confidence.

Preventing us from being swept for the second time in four years by the Raiders IS NOT a meaningless game.

The Chiefs next week? Yeah who gives a damn

Even we don't make the playoffs, I'd like our starters to finish strong, 9-7, I know it will compromise draft spot a little, but it will give me hope for next year, unlike the last 6 years with Norv. However, if we choke to the Faiders, then siting ALL starters and hopefully going 7-9 suits me just fine... :p

I don't believe we'll be strong players in FA, but if we are, we might want to win out to help keep our own star players and also attract others. It's our best interest. I do believe, the Bills even with Thad Lewis at QB will beat the Dolphins at home.

When options are to play to win or to play to lose, the ONLY honorable option is the former and that is why professionals from the coaching staff to the players must strive to shine and to win. A winning "attitude" brings prestige to the team and to the organization and it makes some FA's take note of the team's earnest desire to add quality free agents to the 2014 roster with the purpose to win.

I believe that with a serious push toward possibly a 9-7 finish irrespective of the Miami game outcome, this team will gain more in terms of the intangibles (fan loyalty, respect among peers, etc) than a mere few spots for an unknown draft pick.

No game is meaningless. Some games might not be as exciting to watch but never meaningless. Especially not the game against the Raiders. I live in Oakland, I don't wanna have to hear Raider fans talk **** for the next 8 months. Already bad enough we lost the first time. Believe it or not theres people actually here who believe they are gonna whoop our *** lol

Yes there are, petty fan issues aside. This just isn't one of them.

I'd much rather see us end the season at 9-7 or even 8-8, and that is within the realm of possibility no matter what happens tomorrow. We've looked better and better in the second half of this season, and I think we should take that momentum with us into the offseason. That means playing our best players, playing to win, and continuing to "jell" on both offense and defense. GO BOLTS!!!:helm1:

gotta agree with basically every post in this thread and disagree with it's premise, NO regular season game is meaningless, and if you think a raiders game is meaningless then you are a lousy fan

The Bills are doing us a huge favor so far. Now we just need Brady and Co. not to sh*t the bed like they did last week.

Of the 6 games that need to go right for us over the next 2 weeks this was one of the most doubtful, I'm pleasantly surprised.

And the next game appears to be meaningless for KC. The odds for the Bolts gaining more control over their own destiny is improving from its lows :)

Guess we have to root for the Bengals and Jets next week.

    The Chiefs are meat.

Bengals are good enough to win, but the Jets?....... not the team I'd want to count on.

Expect unexpected shite in the Jets-Fins series. Seems like the underdog often wins between those two.

Rivalry game, with the chance to knock your opponent out of the playoffs? And the starting QB of said opponent might be banged up to boot?

Bengals same thing, with a possible #2 seed on the line?

I like our chances. Not willing to bet my house on it, but I like our chances. We will know if it matters by kickoff time as both of these other games are 1:00 (Eastern time) starts.

I'm tempted to do a small progressive parlay with the Bengals, Jets, and Chargers. But the Chiefs-Chargers line hasn't been posted yet on sportsbook.ag
