Hey guys! I was just having a debate woth my step-dad, and was hoping you guys could give us some feedback. Should the Chargers beat the Raiders just for the satisfaction of beating the Raiders? Or should they lose for better draft position?

Lose. I care about getting our LT of the future more than the short term satisfaction of beating the terdz.

Not that I'll be angry if we win.

It's THE RAIDERS. BEAT THEIR SORRY A$$ES.

Also, this game may not be blacked out. Last I read, club level was the only section you can get two seats together. All other areas only had single seats.

The 'turds will likely be starting Leinart.
Any reason why we should start Rivers?
I've got visions of Brees' shoulder injury dancing in my head...

Anyone know the projected draft slots as of week 16 and how much they stand to change following week 17?

It's the Raiders, FCUK THEM. Win.

You should always want the team to win no matter what it does to the draft position especially against the Raiders

I can give you ranges. We're currently picking between 10-13, with 4 teams at 6-9. I have no idea what the SoS numbers are, and don't want to calculate them manually. Here are the possible draft positions:

    Charger loss:
If all 5-10 teams win, we would be picking in a range of 6-10+X, where X is the number of other teams currently at 6-9 that lose next week.
If all 5-10 teams lose or tie, the range is 10-13

    Charger win:
    Range is 10-16.

Basically, we need a miracle of happenings to pick 6th, and I'm not even sure if the SoS numbers would allow us to pick that highly anyway.

Our SoS should be low, we do have 4 games against KC and the Raiders. I am expecting to pick about 12th or so.

Thanks Ikeman. I was curious to know how "badly" winning effects us. At this point ti seems like not much, but if we had lost last weekend another loss could have moved us up significantly.

Here's the current order, with SoS
    http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap1...013-nfl-draft-order-if-the-season-ended-today

If we win, and all other current 6-9/7-8 teams lose we're picking between 13-16. Our SoS is only slightly lower than Miami and Pitt currently, and it's honestly just hard to predict because it's basically a factor of all remaining games. I am inclined to agree with you, and don't expect to be picking higher than 12th. The Raiders are pretty abominable, and our pass rush has come on significantly. Even though we have no offense whatsoever, our defense is probably going to dominate them so heavily that it won't matter. I also don't see TB, NYJ, or Carolina having strong chances to win their games.

The overwhelming likelihood is that it moves us from maybe 8th/9th to 13th. If we'd lost to the Jets and Raiders to close out, we'd have been looking at a pick between the 3rd and 5th. We'll know after next week's games are in, but my prediction is that these last two "wins" will have ultimately cost us 9 spots in the order.

This season was an unmitigated disaster, but beating the 'turds to end this season would at least send me out of the stadium with a smile on my face. Send Norv off with a "W"...and let the rebuilding begin!!!!

This debate will always and forever exist whenever a team isn't in playoff contention.

You know what? Screw draft position. Half the fun of watching the NFL is rooting for a team to win, and I'm sure as hell not going to actively root for the Chargers to lose.

If you live here in San Diego, and you are a true Bolts fan, there is no question about it. Chargers play to win and demoralize those Halloween refugees and their ilk! Kick those chumps out of our house!

I don't care if a win is somehow the difference between picking 1st and 32nd. I'm not going to wish for a loss. Sure, I may not be half as upset if it happens, but I'm not an NFL fan because I love watching some guy in a suit make an announcement at a podium about who my team drafted. I'm an NFL fan because I love watching a football game and rooting my favorite team to win.

If they lose then I can be happy about the silver lining, but I don't give a **** what the circumstances are, anytime you ask me before kickoff whether or not I want the Chargers to win I'll want the Chargers to win....ESPECIALLY against the Raiders.

Not really. Rooting for the Chargers takes its toll on physical and mental
health. It's quite the price to pay, just ask my therapist. (By the way, never trust a therapist who doesn't have
    their own therapist)
