A 3rd game rematch for the AFC West rivals. Denver had the first round bye, and historically speaking the week off has not been good to the teams who get them. Since 1990 the average point spread for the home team coming off a bye in division round is6.7 points, further since 2005, 6th seeded teams are 6-2 against first seeds and perhaps that is part of why Philip Rivers is 2-0 against Peyton in the playoffs.

The Broncos will be much healthier than when they met in Denver, but Von Miller was lost to the team with a torn ACL. Also let’s not put too much on the past but the Chargers are 6-2 against playoff teams this year. Top all that off, another stat I like is this 5-0. That is the Chargers record since the return of Melvin Ingram.

Watching pregame footage of the locker-room the Chargers are amped.

    Comparison stats:

    PR17, TDs 32, Int 11, rating 105.5, Attempts 544, Completions 378, yards 4478

    PM18, TDs 55, Int 11, rating 115.1 Attempts 659, Completions 450, yards 5477

    RM24, 285 carries for 1255 yards and 6 TDs

    KM27, 241 carries for 1038 yards and 10 TDs

    Yards per game; Chargers: 393.3

    Yards per game; Broncos: 457.3

Passing yards per game; Chargers: 270.5

Passing yards per game; Broncos: 340.2

Rushing yards per game; Chargers: 122.8

Rushing yards per game; Broncos: 117.1

Numbers aside… The reason the Chargers will win? They played Philadelphia in their home opener… Since 2009 each and every team that played Philly in their home opener has won a Super Bowl. Yes it is true. Given that information rabbits around my neighborhood are hiding in fear. Leprechauns all over are hiding their four leaf clovers and people are dodging salt that is thrown over my shoulder.

So there it is, what do we have to do to win?

    1) Hold them to field goals
    2) Take away their run game
    3) Exploit the mismatches in pass/run game

Man, I'm bummed. Jerry Coleman passed on and this win has lost it's luster.

Sad day losing Jerry Coleman. He is an icon and legend.

In regards to the question, we will need to be much more aggressive on offense and let Rivers exploit their defens ethat allows almost 30 points a game. Defensively, come at Manning like Dalton. Play the same type of coverage protecting the deep stuff.

The Bolts are 10.5 points underdogs @ Denver.

No secret we need to keep Peyton off the field. Eat up the clock, run the ball, Time of possession is the only way.

That is an absolutely ridiculous betting line. No way should Denver be double-digit favorites when we just beat them in their house a month ago.

As for what we need to do to beat Denver, pressure Peyton on defense and score touchdowns on offense. Settling for field goals has been a problem all year that needs to end this week.

I actually think Cincy was a tougher matchup for us than Denver. Denver's defense is weak, and I expect Rivers and our running game to be able to put up alot of points against Denver. Peyton has never played his best in the playoffs. And the Bolts are 4-0 in rematch games this year, which is a testament to the coaching staff. No doubt Pags and his brother will be sharing notes about Peyton this week. Here's hoping the AFC Championship game this year is another Pagano Bowl.

Same thing they did last time they played in Den. Dominate TOP, run the ball, limit Peyton's opportunities, and get in his face.

Cover Wes Welker. We couldn't do that when he played for the Pats and he sat out with a concussion the last time we played Denver.

That's it. We physically dominated the Donks the last time. Do that again and we win the game.

I think our best chance to win this game on offense is long drives via the passing game. The Broncos have a tough run defense, but their pass rush stinks. Let Phil pick them apart down the field with high % throws. Pray for a few three and outs on defense.

This team has a winning record in Mile High. We should be confident, but not overconfident like the Bengals were today. We need to play D like we did today, and take care of that defense that is struggling -- that means score in the red zone.

and by scoring it would be touchdowns and NOT field goals!
