In your opinion, what team could the NFL do without if they had to eliminate one team?

Not gonna happen. Every team has too much history to just be thrown away. There are too many fans and the NFL will only lose money and publicity with 1 less team.. Also, what will happen to the players on that team? It would make no sense to get rid of a team

    The Jacksonville Jaguars.

I don't think you can go by recent successes. A team like the Buffalo Bills has been horrendously bad in recent years, but has a rich tradition and incredibly loyal fans. Same for the Browns and even the Lions.

The Jags came into the league, when? 1995? What tradition do they have...other than the tradition of losing football and horrendous arena football-esque uniforms, and an empty subpar stadium?

TBH, I don't think even Jacksonville would notice if they closed up shop tomorrow.

But this is all a moot point. They won't reduce the teams. They make too much money and that money is mostly shared with the league.

They WILL move a team to L.A. The trick is, all the power players willing to bring a team to L.A. want ownership, and there are no owners willing to sell their cash cows...even the Jags.

Someone will work out a partnership deal or an insane buyout though, as the NFL will do everything possible to make sure America's second largest TV market will have a team sooner rather than later.

The Jaguars and Texans hardly have an illustrious history.

Still, I don't see a reason to get rid of any teams.

I agree with this but not sure they would move to LA. Although, I would be in favor as that would guarantee the Bolts don't move there.

Why is Adam asking about just one?

They'd have to get rid of two if they don't want a bye team every weak and difficulty making the schedule.

I just hope it is a team no one cares about like the Jags rather than one with its own history, rivals, and successes like the Chargers.

I don't know, the NFL hasn't seemed to be in a big hurry to replace the Rams or Raiders.

As long as it isn't the Bolts...

I believe that is because no one is selling an NFL team. The power-brokers who want to bring a team to LA also want ownership of said team. It's going to take a truly astronomical deal to convince a current NFL owner to give up control.

Another reason LA doesn't have a team - it's hard to compete in LA when USC doesn't have a salary cap :)

Another reason LA doesn't have a team - they're still clearing the traffic jam from the last game there.

The Titans used to be the Oilers, the Oilers had some history.

I agree with the Jags, a new team with no history in a state that has 3 teams.

Another reason LA doesn't have a team - Paris Hilton can't find time in her busy schedule to service yet another pro team.

Jacksonville...even if they did take an older, slower Natrone Means when the Bolts were through with him.

They already took away the team I was gonna say, but then they took em all when they cut NFL-Europe. The math for 32 teams is perfect. The # of post season games and spots is perfect.

While were at it the rule about maintining possesion of the ball to the ground inside the endzone is perfect.

why would they remove a team?

There is way too much money being made as the league stands right now.

I'd think the Broncos would be the team to go. They're kind of like the anal warts of the NFL.

I'd be happy if they just realigned the F-N teams in a more proper divisions. The Colts in the South???? I still feel they somehow worked their way of of the East to get away from the Patriots.

Indy should be in the North with the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers.

Ravens should be in the East. Dolphins should be in the south like the Jags are (They are both in F-N florida !!!)

The west could stay the same because they go back to the old AFL days.

The Broncos piss me off a lot for some strange reason. If I could push a button on one team it would probably be them.
