    Define crazy.

    Certifiable, Oakland
Passionate... You go to a home stadium and you got it
    Fun loving, Chargers/Chiefs
    traveling team: Pittsburgh, Dallas

There are a plethora of definitions that could provide differing results, IMO.

If by craziest you mean most rabidly fanatic, loyal, and LOUD, there is really no question that Arrowhead is tops. Seattle may be technically the loudest stadium, but their fan base isn't as loyal.

What do you base the loyalty of the Seahawks fan on?

The answer to your question is THE INTERNET. The craziest fans root for every team and can most readily be found populating various discussion boards.

Showing up consistently. Seattle has been a tough place to play for maybe 2 years. Arrowhead broke its 20 year consecutive sellout streak only last year after THREE terrible years. Even during the dark years, it is a crazy place. It is back with a VENGEANCE this year.

I'll start this post by conceding that I'm about to split hairs so take it for what it's worth.

That said, I don't like the notion of labeling a "fan base" as loyal, crazy, smart, or anything else because it lumps the entire group of fans into one classification.

I'd be willing to bet every team has a large group of super loyal fans that will root for and support the team no matter what. And, who's to say there isn't some extra crazy Bills fan out there whose loyalty can be argued to be stronger than any other football fan in the world? (Of course, the degree of loyalty is a matter of pure opinion)

On the flip side, I'm sure every fanbase, even the Steelers, Cowboys, and Chiefs, have fairweather fans who couldn't tell you much about their own team and will only root for them when they're winning.

Back on point, if you want to say a team such as the Chiefs who sell out pretty much every game no matter what has more loyal fans than other teams you might have a valid argument. But to say the Chiefs fanbase is more loyal than the Chargers fanbase implies that no Chargers fan is super loyal, even those such as myself that remained a fan through the Leaf years.

Good post Leo. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Philly. Those folks are notoriously insane.

I wouldn't say that at all. Certainly there are rabidly loyal fans of every team. These forums are proof of that. I am saying when it comes to Sundays, there are consistently 80,000+ of them packed in Arrowhead. There are a lot of reasons for that.

I am not afraid to admit that if I lived in San Diego all year round, then things might be different. Let's face it, the cost of living is much higher in SoCal, and in the winter months, there are far more options that cut into the entertainment budget for most families.

Fall/Winter in Kansas City is cold, rainy/snowy and the Chiefs games have become a fall/winter tradition for the community that has little competition.

According to the Green Bay Packers players the Jets fans are pretty lame. I wonder if Tomlinson would throw SD fans under the bus like he did the entire Chargers organization last week. Including his former teammates. I went to the Detroit Super Bowl and was impressed with the quantity of Steelers fans at that game. I met a guy who won tickets in the team raffle and brought his sisiter over his wife because the their tickets were family owned and his sisiter had senority over his wife.

I didn't mean to suggest that you believed that, it's just that the statement carries with it the implication when you label a fanbase with attributes (good or bad).

Your point here about the consistent 80,000+ fans at Arrowhead is an argument about the quantity of loyal fans, not so much the degree of loyalty of the fans that are loyal. That was what I was mainly getting at.

I'd say for sheer over the top end zone loyalty, it would have to be the Dog Pound in Cleveland.

Thta is not my perception of either. Not taking away from arrowhead but I definately recall games with less that red the past few years. They are great fans for sure, but I would not disparage Seattle fans for Chiefs fans by any means. They both have some very loyal, vocal fans...

Seattle has really only been a crazy place to play since they built their new stadium and then only when the team is good - which hasn't been often. And as I said, last year was the worst in KC fan-wise since the mid 80's, and Arrowhead was still sold out every game except the Cardinals and Browns at the end of the year. It was the first time that had happened in 20 years.

if you go to any home stadium you'll find rabbid passionate crowds. I saw them in St Louis a few weeks ago.

by the way, they hate the Chiefs in St Louis.
