I think that august paper ("The New York Times o' Escondido") can be relied upon!

p.s. Actually, I guess for 8 more days we can call it an August paper! :)

    Marty from 1090 tweeted:

Guess that story in the NC Times was filed before Norv made his decision.

Don't know if I agree with this. Its more than likely (given our bullshit luck) that Rivers will have to start a game in the regular season with a similar O-line. I'm also concerned that he hasn't shown any sort of rhythym with the offense yet.

If Rivers isn't playing, I don't want to see Gates, Floyd, Meachem, Royal, or even Ronnie Brown in the game. Better be a lot of Baker, Green, Willie etc...

You mean that as he sets down his clipboard, he's kind of paying for the sins of everyone else?

(Ooops! I think in Florham Park, Jersey, someones ears are burning!)

No Gates either....... there goes his security blanket (or safety blanket, as Lance prefers). ;)

In other news, the concession stands in the HHH dome ran short of supplies and are down to their last seven hot dog buns, but they are confident that they will still be able to feed the thousands of hungry fans at the game...

It puts a lot of pressure on Gaither for not being there. He now sees that his BS is costing PR and the offense valuable time,

Isn't it usually the 4th preseason game which is the Scrub Bowl? I guess this year we are going to be "treated" to two of them.

(any of you who thought the 18 game season was a bad idea deserve these games)... :D

Was this an attempt at humor, or more of this self depreciating harping and whining?

Actually I don't mind Rivers sitting but I really would have liked to have seen Kevin O'Connell play.

I like it due to the fact it gives these O line some work against opposing teams #1's without putting Rivers at risk

We know what Gates and Rivers can do on the field together, I still want to see Meachem out there so he'll have more time running routes

I'm curious what the reasoning is behind this. If Norv doesn't think that Rivers can hold up behind this line, then we've got a problem, because this is probably going to be what the line will look like for parts of the season.

I think we should all not read into Rivers not playing. I think that the thought would be he is a veteran and doesnt need to play in this game.

Imagine what everyone would be saying if he got lost for the season or career in a 3rd preseason game that meant exactly nada....

Rivers will play behind what ever line he needs to come the first Monday of the real season.

This could be AJ 'selling' CW for a trade to get an O-line guy. And then resign O'Connell...:sneaky:
