I'm curious so I'm posting this poll. Tell me who and why
The poll is for next year because there's only two real possibilities for this season, we finish it with Cottrell or we fire him and hire a coordinator as interim. We aren't hiring someone new in midseason

Assuming Wade gets fired, I'd love to have him back. We know the players and AJ all like him a lot. If TC's contract really is up after this year, and Wade is available, I can't imagine AJ and Dean wouldn't take a run at him.

After all, Wade is the guy who they wanted to take over for Marty in the first place--they just didn't expect him to actually get the Cowboys job.

Imagine our team with Turner as HC/OC and Wade as DC. We'd kill.

EDIT: I'm pretty much done defending TC. His refusal to change just baffles me. Usually I'm the first to say it's a player problem over a coaching problem, but he just won't change his scheme to adjust for missing Merriman and I don't understand it. If he turns things around, I'll give him his due. But for now I'm through with him.

I was thinking maybe Joe Pascale. He could coach from one of those golf carts.

I agree. The big man would make an awesome DC.

Last winter, my company as co hosting a seminar with another company from Chicago. I was talking with some obvious die hard Bears fans and they were saying they hated Ron Rivera. That the majority of the fan base was glad to see him go.

Before anyone jumps... I'm not saying that this makes him bad or that I think he's bad. Just stating what I was told for whatever it's worth.

I could go with Wade or Nolan - although I think Nolan might be better only b/c he's a bit more fiery and less mellow - maybe these guys really do need someone to get them all hyped up???? I dunno.... I just want them to win.

Jesus would be an awesome DC. We could run anything we want because everyone would know the snap count and the play. In fact, Jesus could arrange for the in-helmet communications to remain on throughout the play, which would make things even greater!

But I'm curious, would Jesus allow Matt Wilhelm or Cro to NOT get run over when tackling? Or would he let them take their lumps? :icon_shrug:

The most likely choice if cottrell gets fired is Rivera.

The bears defense was awesome under Rivera.

AJ's not going to give big money to Wade or Nolan.

Im sure AJ might want to bring back Wade and that would be OK....hate his playing back off the WR's too but Marvin Lewis could get fired after theis year and ran the 3-4 at Baltimore.

Dont want Nolan after RIP reminded me that Ray Lewis complained that he wasnt aggresive enough and didnt use the players right.
We already have that guy and his name is Ted, AKA Jabba.

I'd love to have Wade back here. Here did a great job witht he defense and the 3-4 is his thing. He's the one that brought it to San Diego and he knows how to use it effectively. He's creative in the ways he brings pressure. Something we're missing big time with Cottrell.

If he's not available, ie. some miracle keeps him from getting fired in Dallas, I'd love to have Mike Nolan in here.

I just remember how well our defense played when Wade was here. The others might be decent DC's, but Wade Phillips is the known quantity around here, the players know what he does and expects and he plays nicely with the front office.

I still want to know why everyone's so hot about Nolan. How great were his defenses with the Niners?

I'm not in favor of hiring Rivera mid-season. I think we'd be even softer.

well let's also remember that the niners spent ridiculously on a mish-mash of players. So yeah while hte Niners' defense sucked, when nolan was a raven his defenses were at the top of the league for the length of his stay. Nolan's a better DC then HC

He's hated there cuz he was already talking about leaving for a head coaching job during their run to the Super Bowl. And supposedly he wouldn't shut up about it.

    That's what I remember.

Oh. They didn't mention anything about that.

Still, if we make a Super Bowl run, is he going to do the same thing here?
