The Chargers have until Saturday to free up a roster spot for Cooper. I have not heard anything yet, did I miss something?
If not, who is likely to wind up on the practice squad / the street by this weekend?

I'm hoping it's Osgood... just so that I can then watch the meltdown on the forums.

It's interesting to note that Osgood had his best game by far this past Sunday against the Raiders. The first three weeks he looked like he was mailing it in. Maybe, he is feeling a little pressure with a roster cut imminent.

If we had hung onto Lamar Divens that might be viable, but we need the depth right now. Most likely another LB, Polk or Smith.

I believe we released Polk during the last round of cuts.

We would have to re-sign him to cut him...probably not happening. (I checked the depth chart on Chargers.com..no clues there...no Polk either)

I would guess at Smith myself, due to the number of inside linebackers on the roster compared to the depth at the other positions and the fact that he is "the new guy".

Of course, I've been horribly wrong before....

Yeah, I thought the writing was on the wall since we signed Ian Scott (or did he get sent packing?)

Smith hasn't been playing at the level he should, but he'd make a good backup. I don't see how you can keep Mckinney over him, the dude hasn't been active for a single game. Smith can fill in when Cooper gets winded, which will happen more the next few games as he gets back into football shape, and he might be our best alternative if Cooper or Whilem go down (I don't think I spelled whilem right).

which speaks louder about our D than any other stat. Our safety should not be leading the team in tackles.

True, but it is early yet. I want to see who the leading tackler is at the end of November. That will be telling...

Cooper will lead the team in tackles by the end of the season, even with him missing these first four games.
