I don't understand this...why not try to get Takeo Spikes from the Bills to play ILB???

He's an outside linebacker but he's huge, plays the run extremely well and can drop into zone coverage...Sounds like a great inside linebacker to me...

Buffalo was obviously just trying to unload his contract because they shipped him and kelly holcolmb to the eagles for Darwin Walker, a backup defensive tackle.

It's obviously too late, but i'm just curious why not give it a shot???

Spikes has been getting injured the last two seasons.

Takeo Spikes Q&A: Tending to a torn (Achilles) tendon - Sep 2006

Played 12 games last year, with a few additional injuries (hamstring, ankle, etc). Will turn 31 during the 2007 season.

AJ was with the Bills when Takeo was drafted. He'd have good info on Spikes talents before the injury, and able to watch film from last season and compare vs early in his career. With AJ not even sniffing towards Spikes, I think he might view him as an injury risk. Combine that with age, and it's pretty clear why the Chargers didn't go after Spikes.

Takeo was drafted by the Bengals. He didn't arrive in Buffalo until 2003.

But I agree about why we didn't go after Takeo. We just dumped an aging, overpriced MLB. No reason to get another one, especially one that has been injured most of the last 2 seasons.

You could have used the Conc Defense. He didn't follow football before 2003, either. :icon_rofl:

There's definitely a reason this is his third team in 4 seasons...

Not sure what it is exactly, but the fact that neither team has a very good LB corps and both are still willing to get rid of him should tell us enough about why AJ didn't make a run at him.

Tim Dobbins rig a bell? That guy is a manster.
Carlos Polk. Not a Merriman but definetly a quality LB.
Stephen Cooper. Another strong, fast LB
Shawn Meriman. Defensive MVP (minus the bad test)
Matt Wilhelm. Mean Mo Fo. Very smart.
Randall Godfrey. Excellent run stuffer. Very smart.
Marques Harris. Excellent run stuffer. Very hungry.
    Shawne Phillips. Fast, Mean, Smart.

Takeo can't hold a candle to any one of these except maybe Carlos. Then again, Carlos is a phenominal ST guy.

At the end of the day, AJ rules.
