Does AJ smith really think Norv can lead this team? I dont think he wants to remove Norv because of his pride. Same team, same plays different results. Last year we win alot of these games we are losing. Last year, I had all the confidence we would come back and win a game. Alot has to do with our players executing. Alot has to do with the playcalling. Alot has to do with the leadership Norv is not giving this team. Im very confident we can win these last games. But after that, it can very well be the same result. We have all the tools to make a run. After watching the Pats/Bills game, it amazed me that the playcalling the pats had worked at will. Plays that work lead to confidence boosters. Open the damn pages up.

    Does he have to?

Will AJ publicly admiting to anything accomplish anything?

As long as Dean Spanos fires Norv at the end of the season does it really matter what AJ admits to?

Nope RTL. Peeps just want to believe that AJ fired Marty. If AJ had that power, Marty would have been gone the day after the loss to NE, or a season or 2 before that.

If AJ had the power Marty would've been gone after we missed the playoffs in 2005.

    http://chargers.com/news/press-releases/press-release-20070212.php

San Diego Chargers President Dean Spanos issued the following statement regarding Marty Schottenheimer on Monday:

"Today I made an extremely difficult decision: Marty Schottenheimer is no longer the head coach of the San Diego Chargers.

"This decision was so hard because Marty has been both a friend and valued coach of our team. But my first obligation is always to do what is in the best interest of our fans and the entire Charger organization. I must take whatever steps are necessary to deliver a Super Bowl trophy to San Diego. Events of the last month have now convinced me that it is not possible for our organization to function at a championship level under the current structure. On the contrary, and in the plainest possible language, we have a dysfunctional situation here. Today I am resolving that situation once and for all.

"My decision means that our organization will be obligated to pay the last year of Marty Schottenheimer’s contract and will begin an intense search for a new head coach at this relatively late date, but these are sacrifices that I believe are necessary to give the Chargers the best possible chance to win on the field this season.

Let's not let facts stand in the way of our incessant ranting and complaining about AJ Smith.

This is obviously all his fault because he's the one of the two people who couldn't maintain their tempers that didn't lose his job. :icon_evil:

Does that make it AJ's decision?

The bottom line is AJ and Marty couldn't get along to save their lives so Dean Spanos was forced to choose between the two.

    He chose AJ Smith.

    Is that AJ Smith's fault?

If he chose Marty I'd be willing to bet these same people who berate AJ and his "ego" would, instead, be blaming Marty and berating whomever took AJ's place everytime a draft pick or free agent pick up did anything bad.

This is a Norv thread, sorry for the mix up. I just dont think Norv has the smarts for this team. I dont think he has the smarts for his own offense he installed. IF sorry *** Cam can call a better game, theres something wrong here.

If AJ held a press conference today and admitted to the entire world that he was wrong for cutting Welker would that put Welker back on the Chargers roster?

In order for AJ to have fired Marty due to hating him he'd have to be the one who fired him in the first place.

Just because it's the cool thing to do to point the finger at AJ doesn't mean that's what happened.

Perhaps you should get a check up yourself. 1-800-ABCDEFG

in reality yes Dean is the one that has to fire Marty but do you not think AJ went to Dean and fire him the WHOLE REASON MARTY GOT FIRED IS NOT BECAUSE HE WENT 14-2 AND LOST TO THE PATS IN THE PLAYOFFS IT WAS BECAUSE "dysfunctional situation" between the coach and general manager A.J. Smith. So how do you not point the finger at Mr. EGO

    You're half right, actually.

The reason Dean had to choose between AJ and Marty was because both Marty and AJ couldn't get along.

But to presume that Dean Spanos, who owns the team, does whatever AJ Smith (his employee) tells him to do....and you're the one saying people need to check into the neurologist?

I'm sure Marty wanted AJ fired just as much as AJ wanted Marty fired, but neither had the ability nor the authority to make either happen.

Dean Spanos is the one who chose AJ over Marty, it was his decision.

I may give you that Dean may have postponed the firing of Marty by a month, but no way will I give you that he is the one who chose Norv. That was for sure AJ driving that decision. Dean is a puppet owner at best. AJ is the puppetmaster.

No matter what happens (super bowl included), here is my off season wish list:
    1) Fire Norv
    2) Fire Cottrell
    3) Hire McDaniels or Cowher as HC
    4) Promote Rivera to DC
    5) Find new OC
    6) Revamp offense
    7) Draft right tackle
    8) Draft free safety
    9) Draft right guard
    10) Call Norv and tell him he's fired again, even though it was already done
