Out of all the NFL QB's Rivers takes the prize for biggest trash talker :) Only difference between the two is that Rivers has the talent to back it up.

I'm sorry, no offense, but this post just sucks.
The two names have no business being mentioned or compared in the same sentence.

You can put any two names in the same sentence so long as the context fits. In this case the context fits because both are trash talkers. It doesn't matter whether or not one is better than the other or by how much because the context still fits.

HollywoodLeo and Philip Rivers both want the Chargers to win.

There's a perfect example comparing an outstanding QB and someone who would get creamed after one play at any position. It still works because the context is what matters.

Rivers definitely is passionate about the game, and you can tell he is real motivated to win. Rivers doesn't go off flipping off opponents on live TV. He makes his true statement on the field.

Well, I've always maintained that if one is going to pretend to engage in
banter with the locals, in order to slyly plug an app for free,
the name of said app should be obnoxiously & shamelessly gigantic, Just sayin'...

You're entitled to your opinion Lance :) being located here in Chula Vista, I figured this was the place to bantor with the locals.

It's been a great time so far. Met a lot of fellow charger fans so far brotha :)

    So back to my question:

Will Maziel become a bigger smack talker then Rivers?

I disagree. Talking "trash" as it was originally defined, implies you're saying something derogatory about your opponent. We all know that Philip doesn't even say swear words on the field. His interaction with opposing players doesn't even fit the definition of "trash talking." Playful banter, is a more accurate description of what Rivers engages in.

Originally defined by who? I don't see a definition provided by the original poster.

Merriam-Webster defines it as "disparaging, taunting, or boastful comments especially between opponents trying to intimidate each other".

I don't see anything about curse words being a necessary prerequisite in there.

I don't have a problem with Rivers' form of trash talk, I never have. But that doesn't mean it's not trash talk.

Rivers isn't know to "disparage or taunt" his opponents. Have you heard him mic'ed up? The guy is very talkative, but he doesn't insult or disparage opposing players. He isn't particularly boastful either. He just likes to chatter with the opposition. I wouldn't say it really qualifies as "trash talk" though.

You're splitting hairs. Rivers is very boastful with the opposition.

Like I said, I don't have one problem whatsoever with the form of trash talk Rivers partakes in but that doesn't mean it isn't what it is.

But I won't go further with this. It's a semantics debate, lol.

Why would Rivers want that title anyway? I'm sure both Brady and Manning are green eyed knowing Manizel and Philip hold a title over their head that they don't already own. I think Manizel is gonna get traded in two years, Pettiines offense is horrid but if they keep Johnny up long enough his talent will shine thru their terrible team. Which right NOW includes Johnny himself. It's crazy looking at the Browns and wondering they haven't closed up shop yet, they plain stink and that ownership has shown no loyality to it's fans or the city it plays in.

How do you know how good Pettine's offense is when this is his first time as a head coach and he has a defensive background? Are you drawing conclusions on two preseason games?

Or are you basing it off the fact that their Offensive Coordinator is Kyle Shanahan? In which point I'm nitpicking your choice of words because you should be saying "Kyle Shanahan's offense" and not "Pettine's"

I'm basing it off what I've seen so far. Also that he is defensive minded and Kyle Shananhan is only good because his living off RG3 rookie year. Houston O stunk until they picked up Foster and canned Shananhan. I'm just glad our Org. is finally moving away from diaster and looking to follow a plan. I believe they'll keep Pettine for a year simply for dear god I hate this word continuity's sake.

They canned most their stooges shortly after Norv and Chud's exit. Doesn't mean a thing when the biggest fool is the one owning the team.

I was just pointing out that they're not opposed to firing a HC after just one season as you insinuated they were.

Is there anyone here who is a freaking "Johnnie Football" fan??? I hate Manziel and the only thing that would have made my draft day better was if he had been selected by the Raiders... then all my football hate could remain channeled in one direction.
