I guess the one bright spot in the Pitt loss was that it helps our quest for a #3 seed

Actually that is incorrect. If we lose to both Denver and Oakland and Denver wins out, Denver wins the division based on a better division record.

Denver plays Houston this Thursday. If Denver loses, does that mean the AFC West title is ours?

    Nope

Denver can still tie if San Diego loses to Detroit...and would have a better record in the AFC West in that event.

No, we would have to win one more.

Essentially, the Lions game doesn't mean anything unless Denver loses a game.

We win all the tie breakers right now in our division. So with a win, the AFC West is ours.

We win all the tiebreakers right now, but we still have two division games left to play. If we lose both of those then Denver finishes with the division record tie breaker assuming they win out.

Let's just win then, and take it out of Denver's hands!

It would be nice if our last two games were meaningless and we could rest a few dinged up players more so than if we were still fighting to get in.

That puts pressure on the starters when they need to get their **** regenerated. Rivers leg is fuc't up and I would hate for the team to think they need to win out or have that mentality when the division is wrapped up.

Now that Rivers is dinged, fans better be hoping we get Whiteman some reps real fast. Some thought I was being a bit anal not seeing enough of our 3rd stringer. The dude needs reps plain and simple. If we are blowing out any teams from here on out, I want to see Charlie Whitehurst.

Yep. We get a big lead, give the back ups dome reps. Whitehurst, Oliver, Tyler, Waters, Siler. Would like to see Dobbins for an extended period, too.

Chargers are in if they beat Denver. 41-3, anyone? Oh wait, this game is at home. 51-0.

What's weird is, because of division tiebreakers, the Detroit game is basically meaningless as far as winning the division, unless Denver loses. If Denver wins on Thursday, our game on Sunday means very little as far as winning the division goes.
