    BIG Favorites.

Sandy - Do you think the Bundesliga teams travel by train every game since Germany's train system is TOP NOTCH, and nothing should be longer than 4 hours, or do they travel by plane?

I was thinking HSV to Bayern would be the longest trip.

I would certainly like to see the Netherlands win a World Cup. But I love the way the Spanish play the game.

From what I understand Spain's style borrows from Holland's Total Football(Voetball) philosophy, which entails that all 10 players be interchangeable with one another. It also involves lots off timed runs, fluid build-up play, and a good deal of possesion. The one difference between the two in my opinion is that Spain emphasizes huge amounts of possession through numerous quick short mechanical passes, while Holland mixes it up a bit more even it means sacrificing a bit of possession. They're both a treat to watch!

My take on that is when Johan Cruyff became manager at FC Barcelona... he took what was invented at Ajax and moved it to Spain. You are correct sir... but my contention is that not only did they borrow it... in the last 20 years they have developed it further... even perfected it.

Cruyff's significance to the history of the game is considerable... imo. (both as a player and a manager).

(links for Tyce's Voetbal Intensive Class... :D).

Juventus open their new stadium with a friendly vs tier 3 English side Notts County.

Oh Tyce... here is another little insignificant term for you. For the Brits... WAG stands for... Wives and Girlfriends. Whenever the England side sets up camp for an Euro or WC... the WAGs set up camp too. They are generally good for as many headlines as the footballers are.

WAG's is a new term for me. I knew what WAP is though. :D

I had a player on my team transfer. Took me by surprise when I picked my starters this week as he was wearing a new jersey.

What Oranje and Man City have in common is Nigel De Jong. The central holding midfielder that can win and distribute the ball is the lynch pin pf the Tika Taka system. Gareth Barry has also shown signs of excelling in this role.

The key is the development. You first have to acquire the right players... then work at perfecting it. This can take a very long time.

The Kӧlner carnival may be a proper study for you. You may be ahead in your knowledge of Kӧlsch... but the local dialect will present a steep learning curve.

Spot on my good sir! I was gonna include the Cruyff and Ajax stuff but I was just too lazy. Honestly you were half right. The first major Total Football exposure Spain received was when Ajax coach Rinus Michels and Cruyff left Holland for Barcelona. Then it disappeared until Cruyff returned as manager, and ever since they've always had either someone from Cruyff's regime or a Dutchman as manager. I don't know about perfecting it but it's definitely an art form. If anything they just added their own Iberian "flair" to it.

It is all very subjective of course sir. FCB`s demolition of the Rags is close to perfection for me. But indeed it was the Rags and my view may be sparkled with my severe distaste for Man U. I am certainly looking to the day when City achieves that kind of result against them. You are no doubt thinking about a return to the quality of the Arsenal invincibles squad.

Oh the sheer ecstasy that would bring!!! Also did you make up the "Rags" moniker? I haven't heard of it until you.

I picked that up off of a City message board. It stems from Man U`s nickname "Reds" and focuses it more to the point. :roflmao:

Lots of early fireworks in the Augsburg v Leverkusen game. Augsburg scored in the 5th minute, Leverkusen tied it up 1 minute later. Leverkusen made it 2-1... now in the 34 minute.

    --------------------------------

    Leverkusen wins 4-1

    Who's ready for soccer weekend?

SirBMII - Arsenal v Swansea - SirBMII needs a quick fixing to salvage this season. See if A. Wenger made the right moves.
SandyBob - Man City v Wigan - Can Man City get past the email that sent an executive packing? :D
PaddyIrish - Leeds United v Crystal Palace
    David110 - Everton v Aston Villa
ViennaLager - Bundesbiers v Al Abbas
Tycebrew - Adopted FC Koeln v FC Nuremberg
Conc - Who's your club team sir, if any? If none, I spun the wheel and you landed on Man U.

How did she do? The Bundesliga appears way more progressive on this issue than the EPL.
