A tip of the cap to you there Jack. The MLS Cup is a pretty obscure football match. :D

I had the game on the TV, simply because I couldn't believe ESPN WEREN'T showing the SEC Championship game between Mizzou and Auburn (which I figured would be shown on ESPN here)

So I had the sound muted and was watching the College game online, with the occasional glance to see the score ................when it went to penalties I actually watched (by his stage, Mizzou were getting flogged) ............was one hell of a shootout with both teams blowing chances to win outright, before "Spooging KC" finally were named Champions an then only because I think both teams had ran out of players to take spot kicks. ;)

That was a good shootout. They were 1 kick away from the goalkeepers having to take the next kick. That would have been epic.

No way. US would be odds on to advance out of Groups A, C, and F, with an even shot in H. Also, any statement establishing equivalency between Oz and US is right there with the Boomtown Rats, fur on MTV, and a Genesis comeback.

Phil can't play anymore. His back can't take the exertion. The upside is that we are spared from his singing too.

Group E is the easiest group. Swiss, Ecuador, Honduras, and France. Easy. Watch Honduras go thru... haha

You think France is going to bomb out? I know the Swiss are the easiest of the top 8, but they're no gimme for the US.

They could bomb out. They lucked out with an easy group. I've seen France struggle greatly at times. They had problems with Ukraine.

Sandolf. I'm just about to finish up a month long project. I was approached by some German journalists who wanted some foreign (non-German) unbiased rankings of Bundesliga teams fansongs/team songs/stadium hymnes of Bundesliga teams. The criteria was:

    1. Listen to all Bundesliga team songs from the top 3 Leagues (1.Liga to the 3.Liga).
    2. Come up with a Top 10 and rank them
    3. I could include a 4.Liga team song, but no more than 1 (one) 4.Liga team song could make the Top 10 (they wanted only the top 3 Leagues).
    4. Base on likability, singability, and overall greatness of the song.

In my month long research, I realized that teams had several fan songs or stadion hymne's. Some modern, some original, and I could use any of them.

I'm down to a list of 12 songs, but have to cut it down to 10. Was quite a fun project. I can't wait to see how everyone critique's my top 10. I even think you'll be impressed with my Top 10.

    FCB...

The Random Scrubs qualified for round two of the Cup. You'd better check your line up to keep yourself competitive. The standings are pretty tight in the Pitch Howlers this year.

Your second round opponent looks fairly strong. My draw was more friendly.

So I see. I had to take the 4 pt penalty to get a starting 11 with no guaranteed 0s. Ah well, it might work out..

I did the same thing. I figure if a defender gets a clean sheet... then it is a profit of two. If he plays the full match but concedes a goal or two... then it is a loss of two points. It is a better risk than doing nothing.

Which I did not because he didn't play. At least if I win I can use a free transfer more wisely later on.

    I tried out the test...

    How British Are You?

You got: As British as Stephen Fry walking a corgi outside Buckingham Palace.

You’re awkward. You’re easily embarrassed. You’re sickeningly polite. You’re as British as they come!

Me too. then I went back and changed all the answers to tea and meek, and now I'm British. Trying to become Ozzie, not sure it's an option--all the obnoxious beer options just get me back to American.

    **************

Greetings and Happy New Year to nessie, croak and all of my friends in the "other" voetbol threads.

First of all... if you have made it this far, maybe you all would consider registering here so we all can keep in contact. It is not an optimal situation, but I don't want to lose track of you guys. An occasional visit would be much appreciated.

What VL aka Bundesbiers said is true. Well mostly. My anti-American sentiments were exagerated for effect over at chargers.com. I lured their most ardent defender and supporter into a discussion which developed into a nice friendship and an excellent dialogue.

As far as my exile is concerned... unfortunately it looks rather permanent. robdog has taken to silence. I know from previous experience that this is the preferred tactic in dealing with the uncomfortable. If any of you write for an explanation, don't hold your breath on getting a reply.

I had noticed that regular posters seemed to be banned rather suddenly. Now I know why. It is the pm conversations that precede the move which are the most contentious. The circumstances surrounding BusCook's disappearance are indeed suspect. My bad for taking his defense. It would likely be your bad for taking mine.

Canada may be a lot of things, but at least it is not a police state. You are allowed to question authority here. Society does not chastise those who do.

Be well... and thanks for your thoughts and support over there.

    Werder Bremen
    Union Berlin
    Erfurt
    Aalen
    Augsburg

The rest reminds me too much of Karnival.

I give you another Lenin Order if you can get the jist of this.

So is Karnival good or bad to you?

Yikes, that's a rough translate. Sounds like the Kolner language which is pretty tough to translate. I got something about being Catholic on paper, then water into beer somewhere late in the song. Otherwise, it was vulgar the words.
